Most wanted upcoming phone – Sony Ericsson W995

W995 the best phone of 2009?
It’s been a while since Sony Ericsson(SE) unwield a phone which captures my attention. Their previous flagship phones namely the Cyber Shot phone C905 looks ugly and unappealing. From my observation and a proven fact, the main criteria people buy a phone is of its design. Look at the iPhone, feature wise it was not that great. But its aluminium build, curvy “Applish” design, and its intelligent and yet creative UI design won the hearts of many. The W995 fixed most of what SE’s previous flagship phone lacks.

What SE fans(including me :D ) want from SE is a phone with build in 3.55mm headphone jack and slimmer design. Gosh, SE finally listened to our words. You’ve got that all in Hikaru W995. By the way, Hikaru is the Japanese name of W995. Besides that, this sexy phone also features 8.1MP auto focus camera, 2.6inch QVGA scratch-resistant TFT screen, build in 118MB memory coupled with 8GB M2 memory card and of course wireless LAN connection. Some may complain that it might be a bit outdated by not having a touch screen technology, I would say that it isn’t necessary for this phone at all since it was using SE’s proprietary operating system which is better without it ( Nokia 5800 is an example of disaster ).

If these are not enough, here are some of the additional software features of W995:
-Built-in GPS
-Wayfinder navigator
-TrackID music recognition
-YouTube application
-Walkman 4.0 player
-aGPS for use with Google Maps

The price? It isn’t out to the market yet, but it was estimated to cost around RM2,000 (USD570) and it will be available in selected markets Europe and Asia by June 2009 earliest (wishfully).
