Will Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 get an official Android 2.3 Gingerbread update? Answer – yes

That’s a shocking news. It sends wave of disbelief among tech enthusiast, especially among the sub-group of Android people. Some history about this Xperia X10. It was released back in mid of 2010. Locally, it was selling at RM2,999 when launched. It comes with Android 1.6 Donut and a 4inch LCD screen without multitouch support. These are the main reasons it couldn’t sell well. Thats why just after roughly 9months, you are seeing this Xperia X10 selling at RM1,400. Dropping 50% of price in just 9months is horrendous for gadgets. Continue Reading »

Android Gingerbread and Google Nexus S unveiled

All rumours reported few weeks ago turned out to be true, the new phone from Google is indeed the Nexus S. It is the successor to the Nexus One or some might call it NX1 in short. Anyway, The Nexus S is build by Samsung. It might reminds you of Galaxy S as far as naming convention is concern. I would say it is a big brother to Samsung Galaxy S. It (Google Nexus S) sports almost similiar hardware configurations like the 4inches 800×480 Super AMOLED display, 1GHz Samsung Cortex-A8 Hummingbird processor and 5MP camera with a VGA front camera. In Nexus S, you’ll get the flash light for the camera which Galaxy S pathetically lacks. And a much touted feature called NFC Near Field Communication, a technology which provides a new level of interaction.

Huawei Ideos I8510 the best budget Android smartphone with Android 2.2 Froyo

This phone from Huawei might trashed the budget Android phones I mentioned earlier here. In terms of hardware, it is more or less the same as HTC Wildfire and Samsung Galaxy 3. Both target at the budget segment. However Huawei Ideos take a much budget-friendly approach, costing way below the likes of Wildfire and Samsung Galaxy 3. Continue Reading »

Samsung Wave S8500 review, do you really need Samsung Wave?

First there was a Jet, it was speeding too fast and gone out of control and plunges to the sea. It creates Waves strong enough to make everyone on board of the Jet swept across the sea and landing them on an island. They were abandoned by the Jet and the next thing they can do was to look at the Wave, hoping one day there might be someone came to the rescue. This isn’t the LOST series. This is what happened to Samsung Jet owners. A series of mis-promises that Samsung gave to Jet owners. Jet owners were lost, the only saviour is the Jetdroid. Worst of all, Samsung is urging Jet users to upgrade to their new handset Samsung Wave. Well, this is reality, this is business. Anyway, enough of some history lessons. Let’s move on to the real deal here. Samsung Wave S8500, the new handset from Samsung which bundled with loads of new tech never seen before in other phones. The most marketed ones are the Bada OS and Super AMOLED screen. Does it lives up to the hype? Continue Reading »

Budget smartphone Android 2.1 phones to get

It seems like the smartphone wars doesn’t stop. Well, who want to? Whoever wins, get to eat a big chunk of smartphone pie, and cashes too. Nokia used to dominate this sector and it still does, but sadly, we can see this segment being eaten up by RIM (Blackberry), Apple of Iphone and Androids(HTC and Samsung mostly). Though, smartphones used to cost a big bucks. Nowadays, with aggressive pricing and marketing strategy from phone manufacturers, we can get outself some pretty kick-ass smartphones at wallet-friendly price.

HTC Wildfire

I start with the recently released Android incarnation from HTC. It is called the Wildfire. Well, catchy name, designed wise might not well suited to its nomenclature though. That might be changed if you get the red version of Wildfire. Oh, before I forgot, there are four colours available. Brown, black, red and white silver. Personal preference, white silver is the one to get. Thus, I’ve attached the picture here in silver.

….and the boring brown like you have seen in Desire as well.

The best cheap budget phones with wireless wifi capability

Wifi stations are pretty common in big cities nowadays. Which makes sense to own a phone with wireless ability as it gives you free internet on the go. From my experiences, you still have be inside the premise (mostly restaurants and cafes) to enjoy better reception. What I did usually was to stand outside of the premise using my Samsung Jet to Google some information or just to chat with my buddies via MSN/Yahoo. While it does look awkward, but who cares? A better idea is to take a seat in the cafe and pretend waiting for someone. Ok, back to the topic, here are the list of cheap budget phones  for people looking for cheap phones with wifi without costing an arm and leg. And keep in mind that these list of cheap phones with wifi have gone through reviews with at least 7 out of 10 rating. I won’t recommend phones lower than that. These are the best budget wifi phones.

Android OS on your Samsung Jet

Smarter than a smartphone. Yup thats true if you’re a 6 year old kid, or living in stone age. This marketing scheme is controversial and misleading. Having a great hardware but crippled with crappy OS is certainly a curse to the 800MHz processing CPU as advertised. It doesn’t has smartphone features; installing additional applications is only limited to Java mobile platform. But on the other, it was still a great Buy “”, Buy “”, Buy “” Without Prescription phone and best bang for buck if you’re not a techno geek and you basically looking for great multimedia features. Upcoming mobile phones which you can’t miss

Prepare to be invaded by droids. This year is the year of droids. In case you’re still wondering droids with AI cognitive ability, give a slap on your face. No, it doesn’t mean to punish yourself for being less informative, but to wake you up from your lucid dream; it’s 2010 man, not 2100. Manufacturer are beefing up their products with Android operating system. Apart from being open sourced, this OS was hugely popular and particularly stable as well. Well ahead of some proprietary OS like the one from Samsung, where memory leak is still an issue till this date, this includes the new Bada OS as well. Okay, enough of ranting. Here are some mobile phones worth of an upgrade this year.

What is 4G mobile network: LTE, Wimax?

There are numerous misconceptions among people in my country of this new technology, no thanks to an internet service provider which named their Online buy “” service as 4G where it only uses a celular technology called “” Jelly Iburst. It’s very misleading during the initial period back in 2years. But I believe they are losing business as everyone now jumped ship to WiMax here. Back to the topic, what is 4G? Continue Reading »
