Asus Eee Pad Transformer with Android Honeycomb 3.0 vs Apple iPad2

I’ve preview the latest Asus Eee pad Transformer here. The specifications of Asus Transformer is pretty standard, but what distinguish itself from the rest of the Honeycomb tablets is the pricing and the innovative keyboard dock. The keyboard dock itself is already a winner as the physical keyboard provides the way to do input to your device far superior than any onscreen keyboard. On top of that, the competitive pricing at $548 (with the keyboard dock) give Apple iPad2 a run for its money. Well, that doesn’t mean Asus Transformer is the winner tablet now, it all boils down of what you really need.

The specifications of Asus Eee Pad Transformer can be viewed here. So, the question is what are the pros/advantages that this Asus Eee Pad Transformer has over Apple iPad2? Before that, it is best to list out the pros and cons between these two tablets, I’ll start with Apple iPad2.

How to optimize and speed up to make Android phone run faster

The usual misconception for people these days is; Android is slow, it runs sluggishly especially on browsing through the menu. Well, no thanks to anti-Android a.k.a Job’s followers.  That statement is true for the first generation of Android phones like the HTC Magic/Sapphire, and some of the budget Android phones. Android doesn’t use graphics hardware acceleration to render the menu and animations like how iPhone iOS did. And the older version of Android doesn’t handle memory efficiently. The newer version of Android, 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread solved most of the problems as far as user experience goes. However, there are still ways to make your Android phones; HTC Evo/Desire/Droids/Nexus and Galaxy S run faster. Here’s how. Continue Reading »

Mobile technology trends for 2011

Mobile technology trends for 2011 is quite predictable based on the fact that 2010 was the year of Snapdragons. For those don’t even have a clue of what I wrote here, it is the chip or to be exact – SoC(System-on-a-chip) residing on some of the best phones of 2010; Google Nexus One, HTC Desire, HTC Desire HD, HTC Droid Incredible, Evo 4G, …etc, coupling with Android 2.2 Froyo + more developers embracing Android(which results in more apps), Android finally surpasses iPhone by sales volume in the US market. It defines 2010 as far as mobile technology is concern, just like how Lady Gaga defines 2010 for the music scene. And of course there is the Hummingbird and the OMAP3, the SoCs designed by Samsung and Texas Instruments respectively. The DROID line of handsets from Motorola uses the OMAP3. As for Hummingbird, you might be surprised with the list of handsets related to this chip; Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Apple iPad, and Apple iPhone4. Apple iPad and iPhone4 both uses the same ARM Cortex-A8 CPU found in the Samsung Hummingbird SoC. The SoC in iPad and iPhone4 is called Apple A4 but with close collaboration with Samsung to develop the ARM Cortex-A8 CPU.

Basically, SoC is a small circuit chip integrated from various components; the RF receiver, Wireless chipset, the CPU core and graphics core…etc. For more information on What is SoC? Wiki explains best.

So what sort of mobile technology to be expected this year 2011? There won’t be 2GHz phones thats for sure, as the heat and power consumption will be too much to bear for a mobile system. From what being introduced in the recent 2011 CES, dual core CPU will become the standard for high end phones this year with nvidia leading right now with its Tegra2 SoC. “” Jelly With some of the manufacturers already showcased their Tegra2 handsets.
