How to optimize and speed up to make Android phone run faster

The usual misconception for people these days is; Android is slow, it runs sluggishly especially on browsing through the menu. Well, no thanks to anti-Android a.k.a Job’s followers.  That statement is true for the first generation of Android phones like the HTC Magic/Sapphire, and some of the budget Android phones. Android doesn’t use graphics hardware acceleration to render the menu and animations like how iPhone iOS did. And the older version of Android doesn’t handle memory efficiently. The newer version of Android, 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread solved most of the problems as far as user experience goes. However, there are still ways to make your Android phones; HTC Evo/Desire/Droids/Nexus and Galaxy S run faster. Here’s how. Continue Reading »

How to minimize Mozilla Thunderbird to system tray.

For some applications like Mozilla Thunderbird, it was poorly designed as so that it doesn’t minimized to system tray. Which can be a nuisance and consuming your taskbar spaces as you don’t need the application to sit on your taskbar at most of the time. Most applications now supports minimized to system tray; even my favourite web browser Opera supports it. But with the advent of Windows 7 pin-to-taskbar feature, this has become less relevant as the pin-to-taskbar provides great usability. Anyway, for some programs or applications, minimizing to the system tray is better, or if you are still using Windows XP, it gives more reason for you to do so. Here’s how. Continue Reading »

How to unlock core with a AMD Phenom II Athlon II X2/X3 processor

Unlocking cores is the new trend in the overclocking community. It gives consumer a power boost unlike any traditional overclock. It is a win-win solution for both the customer and the manufacturer. As the processor which is deemed unusable as a quad core will be binned and sell as dual core and triple core, depending on the usable core count. In actual fact, most cores are usable, you just need an extra bit of voltage bumping to the processor. In some cases, AMD actually sell their quad core Phenom II X4 as Phenom II X2/X3 processor. Lucky buyers will be happily unlocking the core by ACC without any voltage upping at all. From my opinion, unlocking is much easier than overclocking the clock speed of your processor. It gives you much better performance without the hassle of tweaking and finding the sweet spot between best possible lowest voltage and highest performance. In this guide, I will show you how to unlock the core and booting up to Windows to test the stability of your processor. Continue Reading »

amount of RAM in Samsung S8000 Jet handset

One thing which disappointed many Jet users is the limited amount of RAM that Samsung employed in the infamous smarter-than-smartphone Jet. Simply browsing a web site with very heavy content via the bundled Dolphin web browser will stop your current session and pop up a message indicating memory resource is low and you no longer able to continue with your current work, which is = =”. And the same happens when you open few applications at the same time, say a music player, Google maps, and message editor. Samsung is smart for not advertising the amount of RAM for this “smartphone”. Many were guessing the amount of RAM in their Jet(in Facebook and Darkforest); from as low as 16MB to a whopping 256MB. Well, neither were correct, the amount of RAM can be determined in the administrator menu. Continue Reading »
