Latest Android flagship phone comparison Samsung Galaxy S II VS HTC Sensation
Summary
Which phone shall you choose? Physically, I like the design of Sensation more than the semi-iPhone style Galaxy S II. And the Sense 3.0 skin is way better than the TouchWiz4.0 from Galaxy S II. Upon testing both phones side by side, I found the Sensation performs slightly slower thanks to the resource hogging Sense 3.0 (it is a trade off for better eye-candy anyway). But I was dumbfounded when I saw the similiar speced of the HTC Evo 3D from YouTube performed smoother than the Sensation. I don’t know why, maybe a future update of the firmware could solve this issue. Anyway, for most other users, you won’t be bothered for that as overall Sensation is still very fast and smooth. It is slower in the eye of a techo-geek only.
So Galaxy S II is the winner here right? No. The Galaxy S II is very feature riched; Super AMOLED Plus display, insanely fast processing CPU, big internal memory and RAM. But it was crippled by the light weight plastic construction and iPhone-esque design. While the iPhone-esque design is a minor issue but it does matter to some, me being one of them.
Verdict? If you like the HTC design and/or you looking for a high end Android phone which gives you higher resolution for your needs of better web browsing and HD video which fits nicely on your screen, look no further than the HTC Sensation. But if you’re looking for better specs which includes faster CPU ,more storage, much vibrant display and better battery life it would be a no brainer to get the Samsung Galaxy S II. Just an advice, both are fast enough for your normal usage, you won’t notice much difference between these two devices as far as daily operation goes, just buy whichever suits your taste-physically.
For me? I still got a hard time choosing these both. I like the HTC design and not to mention the Sense 3.0, and I like the better specs of Galaxy S II too. Ultimately, the deciding factor for me is which device got support of Cyanogenmod first. Thus far, Galaxy S II got a head start as Samsung doesn’t lock its bootloader and Samsung even giving out free Galaxy S II to the Cyanogenmod developer. HTC Sensation has a locked bootloader but HTC won’t be locking their bootloaders according to their CEO. But this has yet to be seen as new users still reporting a locked bootloader for their Sensation.
