Best Android phones of 2011 thus far
No.3 – HTC Evo 3D
It was all thanks to James Francis Cameron for all the 3D hype. First it was the cinema, then the TV set, now we have it on our phone. 3D doesn’t really necessary give user a better user experience. It’s a matter of personal preference. Personally, I’d prefer a non-3D movie at the cinema. As far as mobile phone is concern, I would prefer it as an additional feature. But I don’t like to have it sacrificed over other features. This is where HTC Evo 3D fails in my opinion. It is basically a twin brother of HTC Sensation. But packing heavier build, lower rear camera resolution and poorer battery life. Despite its shortcomings, it’s still a phone to be considered for, the 3D stereoscopic display is a big PLUS which you can’t find in the top 2 phones here. Best of all, you don’t have to wear a 3D glasses to experience the 3D effect in HTC Evo 3D.
No.4 – Google Nexus S
This is one of the top phones of 2011 with a single processing engine. For everyday usage, you won’t notice a difference between a dual core and single core Android phone. Google Nexus S is a pure Google experience phone. Sporting the vanilla build of Android Gingerbread 2.3 with a working Over The Air update to the latest Android OS 2.3.4. The biggest advantage of a Google experience phone is its official support from Google where you’ll be getting new OS update from Google itself in a timely manner. As far as the specification goes, it has a Hummingbird SoC with a 1GHz ARM-Cortex A8 processor and a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, 4.0 inch Super LCD display (used to have Super AMOLED during the first batch) and a very unique curve display and an overall curve design, which I personally think is the best looking phone so far.
